Ohio Optics Consortium
Cornerstone Research Group was instrumental
in forming the Ohio Optics Consortium (OOC), a community of
businesses and organizations involved with optics research
and manufacturing. OOC kicked off on April 11, 2002, with
its first conference held at the National Composites Center
in Kettering, Ohio. From 1999 through 2004, they held at least
three annual meetings in the Dayton area, in Columbus, and
in Cleveland.
OOC's mission was to forge partnerships and
foster professional development to expand optical technology
in Ohio. Its objectives were to:
- Network organizations
to leverage facilities, equipment, and knowledge to compete
for joint research programs and coordinate research and
development programs
- Identify new markets for emerging technologies
- Transition new technologies to the marketplace
- Represent the optics community to state
and federal agencies, industry, and academic institutions
- Educate, mentor, and attract skilled professionals
- Encourage the development of technology
and high-tech jobs in Ohio
Although no longer active, the OOC helped launch
the new Miami Valley (Dayton area) Chapter of IEEE Lasers
and Electro-Optics Society (LEOS Chapter) and was also instrumental
in encouraging the formation of a local chapter of SPIE.
