Wall Street Journal Article
on Shape Changing Materials
Includes CRG
On
August 3, 2005, the New York version of the Wall Street
Journal published an article entitled "Reshaping
Plastic Reshaping Industry," by Ellen Sheng from Dow
Jones Newswire. The article discussed the development of "smart"
plastics that can completely reshape themselves when exposed
to a stimulus such as heat, light, sound, water or chemicals.
An excerpt:
"Cornerstone Research Group is one of
the companies contracted by the government to develop a
shape-memory material for the aircraft. One of the challenges
of developing the material, the company said, is coming
up with ways to build the stimulating factor — be
it heat or ultraviolet light — into the structure.
The material must also respond quickly and reliably."
