Founding
CRG was founded in April 1997 by Dr. Patrick J. Hood as a
for-profit research and development company. The closely held
corporation is dedicated to providing high-quality R&D
services that lead to breakthrough technologies. Since its
founding, CRG has experienced rapid growth and developed a
broad base of experience by working on a wide array of programs
and by hiring committed employees with diverse professional
experience.
University Partners
During CRG's start-up phase, the company often leveraged the
technical expertise and research results of leading universities
by working on joint programs. Through these programs, CRG
has successfully commercialized materials technology and built
on various technology bases. Although CRG is now self-supporting,
university partners have been and continue to be a valuable
resource for development programs.
Company Growth
As of January 2007, the CRG team has over 80 employees and
occupies over 63,000 square feet of office and laboratory
space in Russ Research Park and on Factory Road in Dayton,
Ohio. Annual sales
have increased exponentially, and the government customer
base has grown substantially. CRG's continued expansion has
provided innovative research services for the commerical sector,
including 6 Global 500 companies, a Global 200 medical company,
3 Fortune 500 companies, and numerous small- to mid-sized
businesses representing a large cross-section of industry.
CRG's list of government customers has grown to include the
Air Force, Army, Navy, National Science Foundation, NASA,
Missile Defense Agency, Defense Threat Reduction Agency, and
National Reconnaissance Organization.
Spin-off Companies
In 2004, CRG initiated its first spin-off company, CRG
Industries, LLC, a materials supply company dedicated
to supplying high-performance materials and emerging technologies
to government and industry. CRG Industries
manufactures state-of-the-art materials created and leveraged
by CRG's multimillion-dollar research and development programs.
In addition, the company manufactures and distributes materials
patented by others and licensed by CRG. These materials have
a wealth of uses and applications in commercial, medical,
industrial, and military fields.
Corporate Culture
CRG's corporate culture is one of openness, honesty, cooperation,
and hard work. These deeply rooted values, combined with a
decentralized management system, allow for unprecedented employee
empowerment and an atmosphere of mentorship rather than hierarchy.
To complement and support these attributes, CRG seeks team-oriented,
selfless individuals with diverse backgrounds, training, and
personalities. This unique blend of values, management style,
and people has fueled double-digit corporate growth in every
year of operation.
